The Arrival

The time has arrived for Sarah Light to go to hospital to have her baby. Thomas Light, her husband takes the children to their Grandparents house to stay and takes Sarah to the hospital.

Alice and Simon play with their toys at their Grandparents house.

Grandpa Jonathan looks out the window which overlooks a park and sees a horse and float arrive. He asks the children if they would like to go over to the park and watch the horse come out of the float.

The children go over to the park and watch the unloading of the horse.

The horse comes out of the horse float calmly and the owner climbs onto the horse .

The rider walks the horse and to the area where the gymkhana is being held.

Congratulations! Sarah and Thomas are now the proud parents of a baby boy. Thomas leaves Sarah so she can have a sleep and tells her he will bring the family back to visit in the late afternoon.

Thomas arrives back at the grandparents' house.  Alice and Simon, who are at the park hear the motorbike and come running to the grandparents' house to greet him. Together they both excitedly ask if the baby has arrived. Thomas tells them to come inside so he can tell the good news to all the family together.  He tells them that Sarah has had a baby boy and they are both well.

Later in the afternoon Thomas drives the grandparents and children to the hospital in Grandfather Jonathan’s car to visit Sarah and baby. Sarah tells the family that the baby’s name will be Adam.

The baby, Adam is passed around the family for cuddles.

Sarah will stay in the hospital for three nights and two more days.

The Announcement

Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther have moved into their new house at Kowhai Corner. The outside decoration around the bottom left side window is missing but they have been told it has been ordered and it will arrive soon. This house is close to a park which their grandchildren, Alice and Simon will enjoy playing there when they come to visit them.

Today their son Thomas and his wife, Sarah and their two children have come to visit them for afternoon tea.

Grandma Esther invites them inside and offers them a cup of tea and some food.

They are all sitting at the dining room table having afternoon tea when Sarah makes her announcement. Sarah announces that she is going to have a baby in six months’ time.  The grandparents are delighted to hear the happy news. The children were told a few weeks ago and they are happy too.   Thomas tells Alice and Simon that they can go over to the park to play and he will watch them through the window.

Thomas and Alice run to the slide. Alice climbs up the slide ahead of Simon and slides down. Their dog has followed them to the park.

Thomas lies down on the top of the slide and slides down on his tummy.

Next they go and play on the climbing frame.

They look at the model train set that has been set up and walk closer to have a look. There is a man supervising the toy train and the children are allowed to watch the train and merry go round as they move around.
Thomas and Sarah call the children back to the house and tell them it is time to leave now and to go home.
Their home at the moment is on a small farm where Thomas is helping looking after the sheep, cows, horse and hens.

Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther's Son and Family Have Arrived

Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther’s son, Thomas, his wife Sarah and their two children, Alice and Simon have arrived. They will rent the house on the small farm with the Grandparents. The Grandparents house is  been built on a property at Kowhai Corner.

The Grandparents show the family the farm animals. They are able to walk close to the cows. They are looking forward to drink fresh cow’s milk daily.

The cows are quiet and the family are able to pat them.

Thomas will take over the milking of the cows twice a day Alice and Simon like the calf but it won't let them pat him.

The horse has been watching the family with the cows and trots over close to the family. The children hope to be able to ride the horse in the future.

Grandma Esther and Sarah take the children to where the hens are kept and collect the eggs that are in the hen's nest.

The family have a picnic lunch by the river. They can see that there are a lot of fish in the river so they will be back again another day to do some fishing.

A Visit to Wallace Road Tea Shop

Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther are staying with friends near Kowhai Corner. There is a new  subdivision being built opposite Kowhai Tree Farm with residential sections for sale. Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther have brought a section they like and the building of their house has started.

Today their friend who they are staying with has offered Grandpa Jonathan the use of his 1931 Ford Model A car to use.  Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther have decided to visit a tea shop in Wallace Road in a country area nearby.
Grandpa Jonathan is looking forward to drive the car.

They have been driving along in the country for about twenty minutes when the engine starts making a noise, putt, putt, putt and slows down to a stop.

Grandpa Jonathan gets out the car and opens the bonnet of the car to check the engine. He sees the water container is empty. An old man who has been fishing walks by.

Grandpa Jonathan tells the old man he needs some water for the car. The old man tells him that the Wallace Road Tea Shop is nearby and he will be able to get some water there for the car.
The old man gives them the instructions on how to get to the Tea Shop.

They start walking towards the Tea Shop and come across the Chinese stone warriors so know they are nearly there.

They arrive at the Tea Shop and the lady at window tells them to go to the front entrance of the Tea Shop.

At the front of the Tea Shop a man is sitting outside having a cup of tea. They start talking and the man tells them he owns a small sheep farm that is nearby.

One of his sheep and a lamb are close by and are unafraid of Grandma Esther as she goes over to pat them. Grandpa Jonathan tells the farm owner that they are buying a section at Kowhai Corner and will move there when their house has been built. The farm owner tells him that there is an empty cottage on his farm where they could live until their house is built. The farm owner gives them the instructions to find the cottage so they can go and have a look after they have had their cup of tea.
The farm owner leaves and the sheep and lamb follow him.

The lady at the Tea Shop brings out the tea they ordered plus a bottle of water for the car. A kiwi arrives and plays the bagpipes. They enjoy the music, but it is loud.

Grandpa Jonathan and Grandma Esther find the empty cottage to rent and look around outside and inside. They notice the chimney and see the fireplace inside so are delighted to be able to light a fire if it is cold.

They tell the farmer that they would like to rent the cottage and ask if their married son, wife and two children can come and live with them when they arrive next week.

The farmer nods his head in agreement and says, “The more the merrier.” He gives them the key and says they can move in any time.
